This policy explains what personal data Scented Garden collects through scentedgarden.eu, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can.
Who we are
Scented Garden publishes the website https://scentedgarden.eu and is the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, write to hello@scentedgarden.eu.
What we collect and why
When you visit the site
Our hosting provider, Hostinger, records standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the date and time. We use these to keep the site secure and working. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
When you leave a comment
We store the name, email address and comment you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent, to help detect spam. Your name and comment are public; your email address is not. A hashed version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. The legal basis is your consent when you submit the comment.
When you email us
We keep your email address and message so that we can reply. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.
When you sign up for a free download or our emails
We collect your email address, and your first name if you give it, and store them with our email provider, Kit. We use them to send what you asked for and our garden emails. The legal basis is your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails at once.
When you buy a printable
Our shop runs on Payhip, which takes the payment. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought, so that we can deliver the file and keep the records the law requires. We never see or store your card details. The legal basis is the contract of sale and our legal obligations.
Cookies
The site sets only the cookies it needs to work. If you leave a comment and tick the box to save your details, a cookie remembers your name and email address for one year so you do not have to type them again.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Links and embedded content
Articles may link to or embed content from other sites, such as Pinterest. Those sites may collect data about you and set their own cookies, exactly as if you had visited them directly. Their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the services that run the site for us:
- Hostinger — website hosting
- Kit — email delivery and signup forms
- Payhip — shop, payment and file delivery
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised by EU law, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Comments: for as long as the comment stays on the site.
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details.
- Emails you send us: for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry.
- Orders: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict or stop how we use it
- send it to you in a portable format
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, write to hello@scentedgarden.eu. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date at the top.
